    HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Western Massachusetts in accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits nearly 17,000 organizations and programs in the United States, including 9,000 hospitals.
     
    The last Joint Commission review of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Western Massachusetts was in July 2006 with a commendable score of 96.
     
    HealthSouth Ludlow has The Heartland's Certificate for Parkinson Proficient Accreditation from the Parkinson Foundation. This certification involved completion of education modules with learning objectives and Professional Tests.
     
    HealthSouth Ludlow works closely with the American Heart Association, the American Stroke Association, and the American Lung Association in following their protocols for post-acute care. HealthSouth collaborated with the City of Springfield Heart Health Coalition to make Ludlow a Heart Safe Community; this was accomplished by assisting with the provision of CPR training and the acquisition of auto-defibrillators for the town of Ludlow. The Ludlow facility also works with the Pioneer Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross as a designated specialty needs emergency shelter. HealthSouth has active membership on the Ludlow Chamber of Commerce and works on a variety of fundraisers throughout the year to provide health related services within the greater Springfield area.
