John R. Hunt

Chief Executive Officer

John joined Healthsouth in January of 2016 with almost 30 years of experience in the rehabilitation field in both clinical and administrative roles. In addition to acute inpatient rehabilitation, he has worked in outpatient, acute medical and private practice. John has served as a rehabilitation clinical consultant regionally and nationally with a focus on patient care and superior clinical outcomes. He holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.


Dr. Adnan Dahdul

Adnan Dahdul, M.D.

Medical Director

Dr. Dahdul has served as medical director of HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Western Massachusetts since 1995. He is an active member of the greater Springfield medical community and a member in good standing of the Massachusetts Medical Society. Dr. Dahdul completed a hospital leadership fellowship at UCLA San Francisco. He received the HealthSouth Medical Leadership award in 2011 and has developed several outstanding communication tools helping HealthSouth Western Massachusetts patients safely transition from the hospital back to their primary care physicians.

Adnan Dahdul, M.D. is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.

Susan M. Barone

Susan M. Barone, MBA, MS, RN

Director of Marketing Operations

Susan brings extensive healthcare experience to HealthSouth as she has worked in the Western Mass healthcare community for 25 years as a registered nurse and has held leadership roles in medical practice operations. Her area of expertise includes healthcare business development and marketing with a vast knowledge of the area’s healthcare community. Prior to joining HealthSouth, she worked for Sound Physicians and was the site director for the Hospital Medicine Program at Baystate Medical Center. She earned her MBA in healthcare leadership from Elms College in 2013.

Pamela Camerlin

Pamela Camerlin, RN

Chief Nursing Officer

Pamela began her medical career in 1994 serving in the United States Navy as a hospital corpsman. She holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing and is currently enrolled in a master’s degree program for business administration with a healthcare management concentration.  Pamela brings her nursing skills and management experience in areas such as acute care, sub-acute, dementia, and long-term care. Throughout the years, she has held positions as a nurse manager, director of quality, director of nursing, and chief nursing officer. Pamela brings a collaborative approach integrating the highest delivery of nursing care to support the success of our patient’s achieving their rehabilitation goals.

Deb Carney

Deb Carney

Director Therapy Operations

Deb has practiced in the field of occupational therapy for over 12 years. After obtaining a bachelor’s degree in health science and a master’s degree in occupational therapy from Russell Sage College, she joined the HealthSouth team in 2004. She has held multiple positions at the hospital and was promoted to the director of therapy operations in 2016. Her knowledge and experience in acute rehabilitation has fostered exceptional patient care and excellent clinical outcomes.

Cecile Chapdelaine

Director of Human Resources

Cecile has brought extensive experience in human resources to her role at HealthSouth. Prior to joining HealthSouth, she worked for Baystate Health as the director of human resources consulting. Her experience and approach to the management of human resources is keeping a focus on ensuring that human resource strategies are linked to maintaining excellent patient-centered care, maximum employee engagement, and meeting business objectives. She earned her bachelor’s degree in human resources management from Central Connecticut State University and is a member of Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).


Thaddeus Comeau

Thaddeus Comeau RN, CCM

Director of Case Management

Tad holds a bachelor’s degree in social and rehabilitation services from Assumption College. Tad obtained his nursing degree in 1997 and has been a registered nurse for more than 18 years in acute rehabilitation, intensive care, home care and case management. Tad has achieved certified case manager status from the Commission for Case Manager Certification. 

AJ Donais

A.J. Donais

Director of Plant Operations

A.J. provides administrative oversight for all guest service-related departments in the hospital. He co-chairs the hospital’s safety committee, which is responsible for patient safety improvements and ensuring hospital compliance with The Joint Commission Accreditation Standards. A.J. also monitors compliance with local, state and federal regulations of the hospitals’ environment of care. He has been with HealthSouth since 1996 and also serves as the hospital’s emergency manager and IT administrator.

AnnMaria Elder, M.D.

Medical Staff President

Dr. Elder has served as HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Western Massachusetts’ chief of physical medicine and rehabilitation since 1999. As the medical staff president, she works closely with the hospital’s stroke team and assists with program development. Dr. Elder is also a member of Innovative Physicians, LLC.

John Flaherty

John Flaherty

Controller

Prior to assuming his position at HealthSouth, John served as an audit manager for Alexander, Aronson, Finning & Co., P.C. in Westborough, Massachusetts. He also previously worked in several financial services positions for UMass Memorial Healthcare, Worcester, Massachusetts. A certified public accountant, John earned his certificate in accounting at Assumption College. He is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross.

Deb Hadley

Deb Hadley, PT

Outpatient Site Director

Deb has 30 years of experience in outpatient physical therapy and has spent the last 25 years at HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Western Massachusetts’ Outpatient Clinics. She also has 20 years of management experience and brings to her position extensive experience in orthopedics with a focus on shoulder rehabilitation, manual therapy and sports medicine. Deb leads a seasoned group of therapists offering physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech and language therapy for patients.
Deborah Cabanas

Deborah Santos, RN, BSN, CRRN

Director of Quality

Deb has worked in the rehabilitation field since 1994, serving in many roles which include staff nurse, clinical supervisor, PPS coordinator and FIM/documentation educator. She is a CPR instructor and holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Having been a Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse (CRRN®) since 2008, Deb acts as a CRRN® review course instructor for HealthSouth Rehabilitation Hospital of Western Massachusetts and other HealthSouth hospitals.
